Last week saw Myia Bonner presented with the first golden disc from EC One after winning the first ever – EC One Unsigned Competition.
The EC One Unsigned Competition was open to jewellery design graduates seeking to pursue a career as a jewellery designer. With over 80 applying, the list was shortlisted to 10 who were then put on the EC One Facebook page for voting. Over 4,500 votes were made and the four finalists were put before a panel of judges in EC One’s Exmouth Market store, including Adorn London, Nicholas King, ModemoiselleRobot and Kate Carter from the Guardian who then voted in a secret ballot to decide on a final winner.
Myia Bonner, from Kingston in Surrey, was announced as the winner at a party held in the Exmouth Market Store, where unsigned band ‘The Rotating Leslie’ played to congratulate.
“I was completely overwhelmed when I found that I had won the Unsigned Competition. It is a real privilege to be stocking EC One with my jewellery on the lead up to Christmas. I feel their support and promotion of my work will be invaluable at this early stage of my career.”
